Two brothers have been sentenced to prison following a violent attack in Macclesfield that left a man seriously injured and needing weeks of hospital care. Aaron and Haden Whittaker were sentenced at Chester Crown Court on 11 May 2026 for their roles in the assault, which occurred last year.

The incident began on 19 November 2025 at a home on Fir Court. According to police reports, the 44-year-old victim was at the property with the two brothers when an argument broke out. The dispute escalated into a physical attack where the brothers beat the man until he was unconscious. They then undressed him and dragged him outside, leaving him unresponsive in the street, where he was later discovered by officers. The victim required seven weeks of medical treatment to recover from his injuries.

Following the investigation by Cheshire Constabulary, both men were initially charged with attempted murder. In the final sentencing, Haden Whittaker, 33, received an eight-year prison term for wounding with intent to cause serious harm. His 35-year-old brother, Aaron Whittaker, was sentenced to three years and four months for unlawful wounding. Both men are currently being held at HMP Altcourse.

Detective Constable Tiffany Berry-Perkin described the attack as brutal and unjustified, noting that it had a profound impact on the victim and the local residents who witnessed the aftermath. The sentencing follows ongoing efforts by local authorities to address serious violence in the area. As of April 2026, the police force has reinforced its neighbourhood presence with 327 policing positions across the county, including the addition of 30 extra officers to community teams.
