Gloucester Library will close to the public for three hours on Tuesday 26 May 2026 to allow for staff training. The facility, located at the University of Gloucestershire’s City Campus, will be shut between 2:00pm and 5:00pm.
Although the library will be closed during the afternoon, residents can still attend regular morning programmes. The Baby Bounce & Rhyme session will take place from 11:15am to 11:45am, and the Digital Support Drop In, run by DAISI/GRCC, will run from 11:00am until 12:30pm as planned.
Operated by Gloucestershire County Council, the library service advises residents to return any borrowed items or complete renewals before the 2:00pm closure. The library relocated to its current site at Northgate Street and The Oxbode in October 2025.
Councillor Paul Hodgkinson, cabinet member for public health, communities and fire at Gloucestershire County Council, has responsibility for libraries within his portfolio and manages the Gloucestershire Libraries network.
