Football fans in Banbury will have a place to gather this summer as Lock29 hosts live screenings of all three of England’s group stage matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Located on the waterfront at the Castle Quay Shopping Centre, the venue is operated by the social enterprise Tap Social Movement. Residents are invited to watch the England national team compete in Group L, with the events running from 17 June to 27 June 2026.
The scheduled screenings will cover the following matches:
- England vs Croatia on 17 June at 9pm.
- England vs Ghana on 23 June at 9pm.
- England vs Panama on 27 June at 10pm.
Lock29 was opened in 2020 as part of a project led by Cherwell District Council to transform the canal-side area into a destination for food, retail, and community events. The space serves as a major hub within Castle Quay, which features over 50 stores and is a focal point for the town’s retail activity.
