The Little Green Pantry is moving to a new, larger space in Wellington this month. The zero-waste shop will close its current premises at 2 Crown Street on Saturday 23 May 2026 at 4:30pm and will open its new doors at 6 Crown Street on 30 May 2026.
The shop is encouraging customers to stock up on supplies before the temporary closure. The move follows recent renovations at the new location, which the business owner confirmed now has power after experiencing initial delays.
Founded in 2019 by Keli King, the business has grown from a market stall to a multi-award-winning enterprise. Support for the venture has included crowdfunding from over 100 supporters and a grant from Telford & Wrekin Council under the Pride in Our High Street scheme. Since moving into its first permanent shop in 2021, the business has helped the local community avoid using more than 163,000 pieces of single-use plastic.
The shop provides a variety of plastic-free options, including local organic fruit and vegetables, dried food refills, cleaning liquids, frozen refillable items, and dairy and vegan alternatives. The business, which now employs seven staff members, also operates a second site at Newport Market every Friday and Saturday.
Over the years, the company has received recognition for its work in sustainability, including being named the Green Start Up of the Year for the Midlands in 2024 and earning the High Street Hero award in both 2022 and 2023. Additional business support was provided by Good2Great, which also named the founder a Start Up Champion in 2025.
