Colourful floral displays are appearing across Bournemouth town centre this week as the Bournemouth Town Centre BID completes the installation of over 130 hanging baskets and pedestal planters. The project aims to brighten the streets and create a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors throughout the spring and summer.

This initiative marks the fourth consecutive year that the organisation has funded and managed the flower displays. The BID stepped in to maintain the floral programme after BCP Council withdrew funding following budget cuts and the closure of the Kings Park Nursery.

The new displays can be found in several key areas, including Westover Road, Old Christchurch Road, Post Office Road, The Square, The Triangle, and Poole Hill. These flowers are set to remain in place for the public to enjoy until the end of the summer holidays.

Ian Saul, a BID board member and owner of Naked Coffee, stated that the decision to continue the programme was driven by positive feedback from business owners and residents. He noted that the flowers play an important role in supporting the town’s appeal as a location to visit, shop, and spend time.

Established in 2012, the Bournemouth Town Centre BID represents more than 700 levy-paying businesses. The floral display programme is part of the organisation’s broader efforts to improve the town centre, which also include graffiti removal, street cleaning, the presence of Town Rangers, and free public events such as the Summer Streets programme.
