Families in Peterborough can access a range of free activities at the Queensgate Shopping Centre throughout the upcoming half-term break. From 23 May to 31 May 2026, the centre is hosting daily creative sessions at its UNITY venue between 11am and 4pm.
The drop-in sessions provide children with opportunities to take part in hands-on projects, including making cork monsters, creating dreamcatchers, and planting tomatoes. These activities are designed to offer residents an affordable way to keep children entertained during the school holiday.
The UNITY venue is managed by the not-for-profit organisation Up The Garden Bath. The project acts as a community retail space, supporting more than 50 local independent businesses, artists, and crafters. Since its start as a pop-up in 2021, the initiative has grown into a permanent fixture within the Queensgate Shopping Centre, recently securing a three-year lease extension.
The initiative has reached significant milestones in its support for the local economy, having generated £1 million in total sales for small businesses by April 2026. According to the organisers, the venue has also welcomed more than 30,000 families to various educational workshops over the past three years.
