A four-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman remain in hospital following a serious collision on Dorcan Way in Swindon on the evening of 22 May 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 6.10pm near the Holiday Inn and the Coate Water Roundabout.

Emergency services reported that the two pedestrians were struck by a white Ford Transit van after they alighted a bus and attempted to cross the road behind it. The van was travelling in the opposite direction at the time of the collision. Both victims were provided with urgent medical care by a large team of emergency responders, including the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and the Great Western Air Ambulance (GWAAC), before being transported to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The 19-year-old woman sustained serious, potentially life-changing injuries, while the four-year-old boy suffered injuries described as potentially serious. Both remain at the hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the van, a man in his 20s, stopped at the scene immediately following the collision. He is currently cooperating with the Wiltshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Team, and no arrests have been made. The road was temporarily closed in both directions to allow emergency crews to work but has since reopened.

Wiltshire Police issued a community safety update on 23 May 2026 regarding the incident. Investigators are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage of the area at the time of the collision to come forward. Members of the public can contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597, quoting log number 275 of 22 May 2026.
