Families and comedy fans in Luton have a variety of activities to choose from this week as the Hat Factory Arts Centre hosts a series of events for the May half-term holiday. Running from 26 May to 31 May 2026, the venue at 65-67 Bute Street is providing a mix of film screenings, interactive theatre, and live stand-up performances.

Younger visitors can look forward to the Family Film Club presentation of A Minecraft Movie, which takes place on 27 May at 10:30am. Later in the week, the Rubbish Shakespeare Company will perform their take on Romeo and Juliet on 29 May with shows at 11:30am and 2pm. For children aged 3 to 6 years, the theatre company Indefinite Articles will present their interactive show Claytime! on 30 May (11:30am and 2pm) and 31 May (10am and 2pm).

The centre is also hosting several comedy and film events for adults. Mark Thomas will celebrate his 40-year career in stand-up with a performance on 28 May at 8pm. On 29 May at 8pm, the Soul Cine film club will screen My Father’s Shadow. The comedy programme continues on 30 May at 8pm with a performance by Kae Kurd, followed by the return of the COBO Comedy Shutdown on 31 May at 7pm.

The Hat Factory Arts Centre is operated by The Culture Trust Luton, a charitable organisation that manages several cultural venues across the town. The programme aims to support local creatives while bringing a variety of national touring performances to Luton’s cultural quarter.
