Wildlife Trust BCN is running three family nature activities at Summer Leys nature reserve in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, from 26 to 28 May 2026, giving local families hands-on chances to learn about birds, pond life and hedgehogs.
The Brilliant Birds Activity Morning takes place on 26 May 2026 from 10:30am-12:30pm and will include birdsong learning and a small campfire marshmallow activity. Pond Dipping and Minibeasting runs on 27 May 2026 from 10:30am-12pm, with activities focused on creatures above and below the water.
The Happy Hedgehog Activity Morning on 28 May 2026 runs from 10:30am-12pm and will cover hedgehog conservation, decorating a hedgehog highway sign and making a footprint tunnel to monitor hedgehog activity at home. British hedgehogs have declined by 30-75% in rural areas since 2000 and are now classified as vulnerable to extinction.
All sessions meet at the Summer Leys Visitor Centre, Hardwater Road, NN29 7TD. Events are priced at £6-£7.50 per child for non-members and £4-£5 per child for BCN members. Car parking charges are £4 for up to 4 hours or £6 for a full day for non-members, with free parking for registered members. For bookings and enquiries contact Megan Owen at Wildlife Trust BCN, at [email protected].
