Cheltenham & County Harriers is appealing for volunteers in Cheltenham to help run a new Saturday training group for its NuStarz youth athletics programme, the club announced on 22 May 2026, a move designed to mirror the existing Sunday session and to respond to a waiting list of 120 young athletes.
Prospective athletes can join the waiting list from the age of 8 and begin training when they turn 9, the club said, and not all those currently on the list are yet old enough to start. The NuStarz programme introduces children aged 9 to 12 to running, jumping, throwing and agility activities.
The proposed Saturday session would run 11:00-12:15, changing to 11:15-12:30 from September, and would follow the same format as the Sunday groups. Sessions take place at the Prince of Wales Stadium in summer and move indoors to the Cricket Hall for winter months.
The club is seeking volunteers to help run the new group and ideally someone to lead sessions when head coach Elliot Prince is unavailable; anyone able to help is asked to contact Elliot by email. Cheltenham & County Harriers has around 500 members, holds Clubmark accredited status and says all coaches are registered with UK Athletics and DBS checked.
