Green-fingered residents can pick up plants and gardening tips at a community event in Dawley this weekend. Climate Action Hub Telford is hosting a Grow Local gathering at Dawley Community Garden on Webb Crescent, running from 10am to 1pm on 30 May 2026.

Transition Telford will bring plants and seedlings available for a donation or swap, alongside free advice for budding gardeners. Attendees can also collect free garden scraps and plants from the hub itself. Refreshments will be on offer for a pay-as-you-can donation, making the session accessible to all.

A week later, attention turns to cleaner travel with a Sustainable Transport event at Belmont Hall on New Street in Wellington. Taking place on Saturday 6 June from 10am to 2pm, the fair includes a presentation on electric vehicles from a local expert at 11.30am, with time for questions.

Visitors can explore low-carbon travel options, including European rail travel websites introduced by low-carbon travel champion Fiona. Several community groups will have stands, with Wellington Walkers promoting active travel and the Bikes for Refugees project collecting unwanted cycles. The Wellington Cycle Delivery Service will be present from midday to explain its free shopping delivery offer, and Climate Action Hub Telford says Marches Energy Agency will provide free energy-saving measures. Admission is free, and donations for refreshments are welcome.
