Basingstoke is in for a run of fine, dry weather with temperatures climbing to a sweltering 30°C on Thursday before cloud and rain move in from Sunday. The latest Met Office outlook shows largely sunny skies through Saturday, giving residents a chance to make the most of the settled conditions before a spell of cooler, showery weather settles over the area next week.

Thursday will be the hottest day of the week, reaching 30°C with a feels-like temperature around 27°C and only a slight chance of a shower during the early afternoon. Southerly winds will gust up to 24mph but the visibility should stretch to 35 kilometres. Pollen levels are very high through Saturday, so hay fever sufferers ought to take precautions if they are spending time outdoors. The UV rating is high on Thursday and Saturday, though moderate on Friday, meaning sun cream and shade are still sensible.

Friday keeps the sunshine going with a high of 25°C and a rain chance of only 30%, while Saturday sees the thermometer nudge up to 26°C under largely clear skies, carrying a slim 10% chance of rain. The shift arrives on Sunday, when cloud builds and the temperature drops to a cooler 21°C. Sunny intervals will replace the full sun, and there is a 30% chance of rain at 10am alongside strengthening gusts reaching 25mph.

Light rain is forecast to set in on Monday 1 June, dragging the daytime high down to 19°C and making it feel more like 15°C. The chance of getting wet climbs to between 40 and 80% through late morning and early afternoon, with winds gusting to 28mph and visibility falling to moderate levels. Pollen levels will finally ease to moderate, offering some relief for allergy sufferers. Tuesday and Wednesday remain unsettled, with light showers, temperatures of 20°C and 18°C respectively, and wind gusts up to 32mph. The 7am period on both mornings is likely to see the heaviest bursts of rain, with precipitation probabilities of 30 to 70%.

The full weekly outlook from the Met Office covers the Basingstoke area and highlights the sharp contrast between the early warmth and the cooler, damper spell that follows.
