A free guided walk across Dallow Downs and Winsdon Hill will take place on Wednesday 3 June 2026, offering Luton residents a chance to explore the chalk hills on the town’s outskirts. The 90-minute session, running from 2pm to 3.30pm, is part of the monthly Walk in the Park series organised by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.
Each walk covers no more than two miles at a gentle pace, with plenty of stops for mindfulness and enjoying the views and wildlife. The small group size of around 15 people makes it ideal for beginners, families and anyone new to outdoor activity. The series visits a different green space across Luton on the first Wednesday of every month between February and December.
The walks sit within the wider Wilder Luton project, a three-year scheme running from September 2024 to August 2027 with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. They are delivered through the Luton Health and Nature Partnership, a network of health professionals and nature organisations working to connect people with the outdoors. The partnership says its aim is to increase access to nature and support lasting wellbeing.
Anyone wishing to join the June walk must book a place in advance. Full details and booking information can be found via the Wildlife Trust’s Wilder Luton events page, or by contacting project education officer Matt Sutcliffe.
