Watford Borough Council has published its 2026 summer events programme, lining up 16 major activities from 14 June to 31 August across Cassiobury Park, Watford Market, and other community spaces. The council says most events will be free or low-cost, with everything from live music and outdoor cinema to fitness sessions and cultural festivals. Elected Mayor Peter Taylor said he was pleased to see such a wide range of activities taking place in parks, the town centre and community spaces.

The programme includes the return of Big Bandstand on Sundays from 14 June to 20 September, the Big Jiveswing jazz festival on 26 July, and Colourscape, an immersive colour and sound experience, from 22 to 31 August. The Big Screen will offer two weeks of outdoor cinema, while Market Lates brings an evening event to Watford Market on 3 July. Mayor Taylor noted that making events affordable helps keep them accessible for everyone.

Young people can access free gym and swim sessions at Watford Leisure Centres from 27 July to 28 August, alongside the Wat’s On Summer programme of free and low-cost sports, arts, crafts and workshops. The Watford Borough Council announcement confirms the programme also includes the Watford Pride Picnic on 20 June at Watford Heath Green and Herts Pride on 22 August at Cassiobury Park.

Taste of the Caribbean returns to Cassiobury Park on 11 July, and the Watford Fringe Festival runs throughout July. The council described the summer line-up as a way to bring people together and support local businesses, with events scheduled almost every week.
