Detectives are appealing for witnesses and footage after a man was seriously assaulted on a residential street in Hemlington last Thursday evening. Emergency services were called to Dodford Road at around 10:20pm on 28 May 2026, where the victim was found with multiple lacerations. He was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two men, aged 18 and 38, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and remain in police custody for questioning. Detective Sergeant Ryan Thompson, who is leading the investigation, said extensive enquiries were underway. “We’re keen to speak to anyone who may have saw the incident or captured it on CCTV or dash cam footage,” he added. Officers are urging anyone with information to quote reference number 102388 when contacting Cleveland Police on 101 or reporting through the force website.

Anonymous reports can also be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers. The attack happened in a part of Middlesbrough regularly covered by local policing teams, and detectives are hoping that residents or passing motorists may hold key evidence.
