Cllr Tony Cox is hosting his first major fundraising event as Southend’s 105th Mayor, with a charity dinner at Il Mondo in Westcliff on Tuesday 9 June 2026. Tickets are £37.50 per person and all proceeds go to his two nominated causes for the municipal year, STRM – SEND the Right Message and SAFE Essex.
The evening gets underway at the restaurant on London Road and has been arranged by the Southend Mayor’s Charity Fundraising Committee. Both charities work with vulnerable young people and their families. STRM is a parent‑led group offering coffee mornings, disability benefit appointments, children’s activities and training across Southend, Castle Point and Rochford. SAFE Essex provides autism support services throughout the county.
Cllr Cox was inaugurated on 14 May 2026 and can expect to attend around 450 engagements during his year in office. Deputy Mayor Cllr Anne Jones, elected the same day, may step in if diary clashes prevent the Mayor from attending. Anyone wanting a seat at the dinner can book by calling the events team on 0300 102 1557 or emailing [email protected].
