Crime across West Northamptonshire dropped by 3.9% in the 12 months to March 2026, fresh figures from the area’s community safety partnership show. Violent crime fell by 4%, while theft from vehicles saw a sharp 15.1% decline. Burglary was down 10.4%, rural crime dropped by 17.8%, and criminal damage decreased by 11.5% over the same period.
The West Northamptonshire Community Safety Partnership published the rolling 12-month comparison, which covers April 2025 to March 2026, to allow for seasonal variation. Alongside the crime reductions, enforcement against anti-social behaviour saw 70 Community Protection Warning letters issued, 17 Community Protection Notices served, and 20 Criminal Behaviour Orders secured. A further 19 Full Closure Orders were imposed on nuisance premises, with two Partial Closure Orders and 10 Acceptable Behaviour Orders also used.
The partnership, which brings together the council, Northamptonshire Police, the fire and rescue service and health bodies, also obtained four Cuckooing Injunctions to safeguard vulnerable residents. Officers submitted 664 Partnership Intelligence forms during the year to support early intervention work. More than 70 schools were regularly involved in youth safety programmes, including a two-day citizenship event attended by 700 students.
Targeted Clear-Hold-Build initiatives ran in Blackthorn, Kings Heath and The Bouverie, while a two-day knife crime awareness event at Weston Favell reached over 200 people. The data forms part of the partnership’s statutory audit of local crime and disorder under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
