The University of Bedfordshire has shot up 24 places to 106th in the Complete University Guide 2027, making it the third-highest riser in the UK and the most improved university in the East of England.

The jump reflects a broader climb across multiple league tables. In The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026, Bedfordshire rose 11 places overall and placed joint 28th in the country for teaching quality. The Guardian University Guide 2026 saw a 19-place rise and a ranking of 26th nationally for student satisfaction with teaching and feedback, with 88 per cent of students saying they were satisfied. In the National Student Survey 2025, the university finished first in the East of England for learning opportunities, second for assessment and feedback, second for student voice, and third for course teaching.

Interim Vice Chancellor Professor Andrew Church said being the third-highest riser nationally and top in the region reflects the effort of staff and students and the strength of the support on offer. The University of Bedfordshire has also been recognised for its widening participation work, ranking among the UK’s leading institutions for supporting first-generation students, mature learners, and those from ethnic minority communities.

The university, which has its roots in Luton and now also operates campuses in Bedford and Milton Keynes, continues to attract a diverse student body. The latest tables place it in the top 30 nationally for teaching quality and near the top of the sector for student satisfaction.
