A free community festival of live music and performances is coming back to Swadlincote town centre this summer. Visit South Derbyshire has confirmed that Swad Live 2026 will take over The Delph marketplace on Saturday 1 August, running from noon until 5pm.

The event will showcase live original music, community group performances and DJs throughout the afternoon. While the full lineup has yet to be announced, organisers have promised a platform for local talent. Free parking is available in all town centre car parks, though the Bus Station car park is limited to three hours. Blue badge spaces and electric vehicle charging points can be found in nearby car parks.

Swad Live was first held on a smaller scale in August 2023, when it ran from 2pm to 5pm. That inaugural event featured Tribal Vibes’ djembe drums, Charlie Rogers’ acoustic sets, the Sing4Health choir, Stage Screen, Tom Clamp, Ruth Chomic and mystical rock band Friends of Merlin, along with family entertainment such as glitter tattoos, face painting, popcorn, circus skills and candy floss. South Derbyshire CVS launched the festival with support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and Hollie Benton, chief executive at the CVS, described it as a chance to “It will give the town centre a boost and show people from outside of the area what a vibrant community Swadlincote is.”

The 2026 edition follows the Festival of Leisure, held at Maurice Lea Memorial Park on 20 and 21 June, and extends the district’s summer programme. Helen Adcock at South Derbyshire CVS can be reached on 01283 219761, while Visit South Derbyshire is available on 01283 223333 for further information as the event draws closer.
