Crawley residents can now help shape the future of the eastern side of the town centre, after the draft Town Centre East Regeneration Plan was published for public comment. The engagement period, launched by Crawley Borough Council, runs until Friday 24 July 2026. It focuses on the overall vision for key sites around the former Town Hall, County Buildings, Crawley College, Queensway, Queens Square and The Boulevard.

Around 850 new homes are proposed, together with 30,000 square metres of commercial space for business and jobs, and more than 21,000 square metres of new education facilities at Crawley College. The draft also envisages expanded cultural venues, better community spaces, improved public areas, and stronger walking and cycling links. Councillor Atif Nawaz, Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development, urged people to take part. “We want to hear from as many people as possible to help refine and strengthen these proposals to ensure the final vision reflects local priorities and aspirations. I encourage everyone to share their views and help shape plans for one of the most important development areas in Crawley town centre.”

The consultation deals only with the broad direction, not detailed designs or planning applications. Individual development proposals will come forward separately once the vision is finalised. Work on the wider Town Centre Regeneration Programme has been underway since 2021, and in November 2025 the council appointed urban design consultancy Farrells, backed by Iceni Economics and Core5, to develop this plan. The commission was partly funded by the government’s Crawley Towns Fund.

The Town Centre Regeneration Programme’s ambition is for the area to become a dynamic sustainable business growth hub with a bold and vibrant community heart for Crawley and the Gatwick Diamond. The council is already progressing the Station Gateway scheme, with works beginning in January 2026, while the Crawley Growth Programme has seen projects like the £9 million Crawley Eastern Gateway completed.

Anyone wanting to comment can do so at crawley.gov.uk/consultation. The survey is open to residents, businesses, organisations and visitors until Friday 24 July.
