Residents struggling with smartphones, tablets, or online tasks can book free one-to-one sessions with a digital support volunteer at Camberley Library in Knoll Road. The weekly appointments run every Wednesday from 9.30am until 10.30am and every Thursday from 2pm to 4pm, giving people a chance to build confidence with everyday technology at their own pace.

Sessions are by appointment only and can be booked by dropping into the library, emailing [email protected], or calling 03456 009 009 and pressing option 6. Volunteers cover logging onto library Wi‑Fi, booking computers, downloading eBooks and audiobooks, using email and attachments, basic Microsoft Word tasks, online shopping, and handling iPads, smartphones and tablets. The events page was reviewed on 22 June 2026 and lists the slots as an active service.

However, anyone hoping to attend in the coming days should note that the library is partway through refurbishment works that started on 22 June and run until 6 July. The first floor has been closed since work began, and a full library closure is planned from Monday 29 June. The county council has said the phased timetable is designed to keep as many services running as possible, but residents may need to check whether digital support sessions are still taking place on site during the closure week.

The digital support programme is part of Surrey Libraries’ wider transformation efforts, which have seen volunteer-led tech help rolled out across the county. Lightwater Library launched its own sessions in April 2026, and similar support is available at other branches including Frimley Green and Bagshot. Those unable to reach Camberley during the refurbishment can use these nearby libraries for general services and may find additional digital help there.
