The Met Office has extended its extreme heat warnings for Walton-On-Thames, with Amber alerts now in place for both Friday and Saturday as temperatures threaten to climb further. The fresh warnings follow a Red extreme heat warning that remains in force until midnight on Thursday. Residents face the hottest day on Friday, with the mercury forecast to hit 36°C under the day-long Amber warning that runs from midnight until 11.59pm.

Saturday brings a second Amber warning, active from midnight until 9pm, with temperatures easing slightly to around 31°C. The heat will offer little respite overnight, with Friday night’s minimum sitting at 19°C and Saturday night dropping no lower than 18°C. Met Office forecasters also warn of very high grass and weed pollen levels across Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday, adding strain for hay fever sufferers already coping with the stifling conditions.

The Red warning covering Thursday caps a rapid build-up that has pushed afternoon temperatures to 33°C. Sunday is expected to bring cooler air, with highs near 25°C and outbreaks of rain pushing east. The warm overnight temperatures narrow the window for homes and bodies to cool, raising the risk of heat-related illness.

The warnings cover the whole of Surrey as part of a broader heatwave gripping southern and central England and Wales, with some western areas tipped to reach 38°C. The combined heat and pollen peak is expected to persist through the weekend.
