A man was arrested after an Amazon delivery van was stolen in Carlton while the driver was dropping off a parcel on Cavendish Road. The driver had parked at around 5.40pm on Sunday 21 June 2026 and watched his vehicle being driven off. Gedling South Police tracked the van to a car park off Thackeray’s Lane in Woodthorpe within 20 minutes.

Officers detained a 42-year-old man seen fleeing the area and found him with a pack of biscuits the driver confirmed had been inside the van. PC James Roberts said the victim was simply doing his job when the van he relies on was stolen. Police also recovered discarded keys and a self-heating lunch box belonging to the driver.

Motorists and delivery drivers are now being urged to lock vehicles, remove keys, and avoid leaving engines running. PC Roberts stressed that locking up takes only a second and can prevent becoming a victim of an opportunistic crime. Anyone with dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage of the incident is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 503 of 21 June 2026, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
