West Yorkshire Police have released an image of a man they want to identify after a moped was stolen at axe-point during a robbery in Golcar, Huddersfield.

The victim was riding a Lexmoto Zoom moped along James Street just after midnight on Saturday 6 June when a man approached him, threatened him with an axe, and ordered him to drop the vehicle. The victim fled on foot and the moped was taken. Officers published the appeal on 30 June, asking anyone who recognises the person in the image to contact them on 101 or via the force website, quoting reference 13260319421.

The incident happened at 12.05am. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.

West Yorkshire Police have not released further details about the suspect, but the use of an axe marks a serious escalation from a property crime. The Lexmoto Zoom is a familiar model often used for short urban journeys.
