Livv Housing Group is calling on communities throughout Knowsley, including Kirkby, to be better neighbours as part of a new campaign tackling the everyday impact of anti-social behaviour. The Knowsley Chamber reports that the #LivvBetterTogether drive, launched during ASB Awareness Week, centres on simple actions like showing respect, checking in on neighbours and being open to people’s differences.

Sarah Smith, Director of Communities at Livv, explained the thinking behind the push. “Through #LivvBetterTogether, we’re encouraging people to think about the role we all play in creating positive communities,” she said. During the past year alone, the housing association supported customers through 88 cases of verbal abuse, harassment or threatening behaviour, alongside hate-related incidents. The campaign also draws on research commissioned by Resolve showing that one in seven people have thought about moving home because of anti-social behaviour.

The initiative forms part of ASB Awareness Week, which began on Monday 29 June, with Livv staff out in Huyton on Monday and heading to Kirkby this Thursday to speak directly with residents. Alongside the community events, a short film featuring a poem by Liverpool-based spoken word artist Joseph Roberts is being shared to promote the message that small changes in how people treat one another can make a significant difference.

Livv has also joined the recently formed Merseyside Antisocial Behaviour Partnership, uniting more than 20 organisations including housing associations, Merseyside Police and local councils. The partnership, which held its first meeting earlier this year, gives agencies a coordinated way to use the full range of legal powers to protect victims and strengthen neighbourhoods. Residents in Kirkby who need support can contact Livv’s Community Safety team, with urgent reports answered within one working day.
