Anti-social behaviour across Wiltshire and Swindon has fallen by 6% over the past year, with 585 fewer incidents recorded, according to new figures from Wiltshire Police. Reports dropped from 9,825 to 9,240 between May 2025 and April 2026. The force released the data at the start of ASB Awareness Week, a national campaign highlighting work to make communities safer.
Perceived anti-social behaviour also fell sharply, from 10% to 6.8%, placing the county below the national average of 8.0%. Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson said the figures reflect organisations “pulling in the same direction”. “ASB isn’t just about the number of incidents recorded. It’s about how safe people feel in their communities,” he added. “When repeated behaviour goes unchecked, it can have a lasting impact on residents, businesses and entire neighbourhoods.”
The improvements follow years of coordinated work between Wiltshire Police, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Wiltshire Council, Swindon Borough Council and local businesses. In Swindon specifically, anti-social behaviour has fallen 18% over three years. A Public Spaces Protection Order covering the town centre and Broadgreen has led to 30 Fixed Penalty Notices of up to £100 for riding e-bikes, e-scooters or street drinking. The Business Crime Reduction Partnership, launched in Salisbury, is now being extended across the county.
Taxi marshals in Swindon and Salisbury have played a significant role. Analysis of six months of the scheme in Swindon showed crime would have been 52% higher without their presence. The marshals will continue operating through summer 2027. Youth projects such as Premier League Kicks also steer young people away from trouble, while community wardens and CCTV add extra layers of reassurance.
Residents can report non-emergency anti-social behaviour by calling 101 or online via the Wiltshire Police website.
