Two Blackpool men have been jailed for a combined 17 years and eight months after forcing their way into a man’s home and attacking him with a knuckleduster. Paul Judson-Jones, 39, of Park Road, and Michael Johnson, 34, of Dewhurst Avenue, were sentenced at Preston Crown Court on 30 June for robbing a man in his 40s at his Airedale Avenue address on 19 November last year, according to Lancashire Police.
Around 11am, both men, wearing balaclavas, tried the door handle. When the victim opened up and attempted to shut and lock the door, they forced their way inside. As the victim reached for his mobile phone to call the police, Judson-Jones struck him twice on the head with the weapon, pinned him down, and the pair stole the phone. The victim was left with a large cut to his head and a cut elbow. Johnson was arrested in Blackpool just two days later while unlawfully at large from prison, having been on temporary day release. Judson-Jones was arrested in February following a police appeal.
Judson-Jones received a nine-year sentence, consisting of six years’ imprisonment and an extended licence of three years. Johnson received eight years and eight months, made up of five years and eight months’ custody and a three-year extended licence. Both pleaded guilty to robbery, with Johnson additionally admitting being unlawfully at large. Det Con Kelly Siddons of Blackpool CID said the sentences underlined that violent offences would not be tolerated. “Judson-Jones and Johnson used violence against a man in his own home – a place where he should have felt safe,” she said.
