Police seized suspected class A and B drugs and arrested several people during a series of coordinated raids across Torquay and Paignton on Wednesday. The Devon & Cornwall Police operation saw officers execute warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act at properties in both towns, uncovering not only narcotics but also counterfeit currency and a cache of weapons.
In Torquay, the Neighbourhood Police Team supported by the Neighbourhood Support Team searched a residential address and arrested a man on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and counterfeit money. Later that day, acting on a tip-off about drug activity at Memorial Park, officers worked with Torbay Council CCTV operators to identify and arrest a woman who was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear at court on drug charges. A second woman, also spotted on camera, was detained after a short foot chase over outstanding shoplifting warrants.
The same day, a linked warrant in Paignton led officers to suspected illegal drugs and a variety of weapons connected to an ongoing investigation. A 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were arrested at the scene on suspicion of vehicle theft and have since been released on bail while enquiries continue. Torquay Sector Inspector Rob Harvey praised the teamwork across the Community Safety Partnership. Paignton Sector Inspector Pete Giesens said the results showed the neighbourhood team’s commitment to keeping Torbay safe.
