Hampshire Constabulary has released CCTV images of a man they need to speak to after two boys were robbed at knifepoint on a Southampton street. Officers are investigating the incident which occurred on Portswood Road on Saturday 16 May 2026 at around 4.27pm. The force published the images on their website on 30 June as part of the ongoing investigation.

The boys, aged 12 and 13, were approached by a man who produced a large knife and demanded to know if either had a mobile phone. When they fled in opposite directions, the suspect chased a 13-year-old boy into an alleyway, grabbed him by his shoulders, and stole a phone from his pocket, leaving him with scratches and minor injuries. The man in the CCTV images is described as white, about 5ft 7ins tall, of small build, wearing a dark blue hooded top with the hood up and dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms.

A 24-year-old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and a public order offence and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue. Police believe the person shown in the CCTV footage can assist with their investigation. Anyone who recognises him or has information should call 101 quoting incident number 44260230472. Anonymous reports can also be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
