Artwork by adults with learning disabilities takes centre stage in Tunbridge Wells this month as Scotts Project Trust brings its first external exhibition to The Amelia Scott. The ‘Perspectives – Creativity without Limits’ display fills the Green Room with vibrant, nature-inspired pieces including colourful sea life, textured landscapes and mixed media works.
The exhibition continues until 26 August 2026. Art tutors Emma Topping and Joné Cavendish lead the creative sessions at the charity, encouraging students to explore different materials and techniques. Student artist Alison said she enjoys using varied art methods and loves that their work will be on public display.
Scotts Project Trust has operated for more than 35 years near Tonbridge, providing residential care, supported living and day services for adults with learning disabilities. The charity views this exhibition as a milestone, marking the first time students’ artwork has been displayed beyond its own premises. The Amelia Scott, on Mount Pleasant Road, opened in April 2022 and combines the former museum, library, adult education and council services under one roof.
Residents can also catch a pop-up display of the artwork at the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre, opposite the M&S on the upper level, from mid-June through to the end of August 2026. All pieces remain available for purchase through the charity’s website, with proceeds going directly back into its services.
The Amelia Scott is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm, Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
