Community groups and charities in Knowsley have until 10 July at 5pm to apply for a share of £730,000 through the Knowsley Community Fund. The pot, approved by the council’s cabinet in early June, replaces five separate grant programmes with a single application process.
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said the investment would strengthen grassroots organisations. “We’re delighted to be investing £730,000 into the grassroots organisations that support our communities,” he said. “The Knowsley Community Fund is a crucial resource for our invaluable voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups to access the resources they need to make a real difference in the lives of Knowsley residents.”
Eligible applicants include registered charities, community interest companies, not-for-profit organisations and amateur sports clubs that have operated for at least 12 months. Groups can apply for seed funding of up to £2,000, winter wellness project grants of up to £5,000 from November to March, or up to £20,000 for established organisations extending current activities. Any bid exceeding £10,000 must dedicate at least half of the spend to capital projects, with a particular focus on improving sports facilities and equipment this year. Successful applicants will see funding released from November 2026, subject to cabinet sign-off.
The council has invested £1.8 million into the voluntary sector since 2022 through its community grant programmes. The 2026–27 fund continues that support against a backdrop of ongoing cost-of-living pressures. Applications must be submitted through the council’s online funding portal at knowsley.gov.uk/OnlineFundingPortal.
A separate £50,000 Kirkby Neighbourhood Community Fund, backed by SUEZ through the Knowsley Rail Transfer Station agreement, is also open for 2026 applications with a deadline of 28 August 2026.
