Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were found dead in a car hidden in undergrowth off the A584 Preston New Road at Newton with Clifton. Officers discovered the blue Peugeot 106 shortly after midday on 4 July, with the bodies of William Hutchinson, 31, and Stuart Tallis, 27, inside.
The pair, both from Preston, were last seen in the early hours of 24 June. Sgt Martin Wilcock of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said two men have lost their lives in what appears to be extremely tragic circumstances, and his thoughts are very much with their loved ones at this sad time.
William Hutchinson left an address on Hull Street in Preston in the early hours of 24 June, believed to be travelling in his blue Peugeot 106. Stuart Tallis was last seen in the Fishwick View area of Preston around 1.30am that same day and was reported missing on 27 June. Investigators believe the car left the westbound carriageway of the A584 at about 5.30am on 24 June, coming to rest in thick undergrowth close to the junction with the A583 Blackpool Road, where it remained hidden for ten days.
Officers are urging anyone who saw the blue Peugeot 106 on the A584 Preston New Road in the minutes before 5.30am that morning, or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward. Witnesses can contact police quoting reference log 613 of 4 July. Both families have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
