A free community wellbeing event is coming to Restore Banbury on Thursday 16 July 2026, offering residents a chance to access mental health support. The ORC Summer Wellbeing Event runs from 10am to midday at the charity’s Calthorpe Street venue and is open to all local people.
The drop-in session is designed to connect residents with resources that help them manage their own recovery and build practical skills. Restore, which has served Oxfordshire for 48 years, continues to provide tailored one-to-one coaching and free courses through the Oxfordshire Recovery College in the town.
The event follows the permanent closure of Restore’s dedicated Banbury recovery centre, The Orchard, in June 2025 after 15 years of operation. First established in 2010, the service had supported more than 500 local people before rising operational costs, National Insurance increases and the Oxford Living Wage made it unsustainable. Interim chief executive Sean Garden called the decision “heartbreaking,” but the charity has maintained its presence in Banbury through alternative services.
