Two free family activity days are coming to Wellingborough parks this summer as part of a wider programme from North Northamptonshire Council. An Xplorer event will take over Swanspool Gardens on Monday 27 July, and an Active Families Funday follows at Castlefields Park on Wednesday 12 August.

The Swanspool Gardens session runs from 1pm to 3pm with no booking required. The Castlefields Park funday offers a longer stretch from 12noon to 4pm and is suitable for all ages. Both events pack in climbing walls, trampolines, mini golf, soft play, an inflatable penalty shoot-out, water tattoos, clay making, and tasters from local sports clubs. Arts and crafts stalls and stands from community organisations round out the offer.

Councillor Brian Benneyworth, Executive Member for Housing, Health and Leisure, said the programme is designed to help families stay active and enjoy time together, with free options making it easier to get involved. Wellingborough Library is also stocking a free jungle-themed printed activity journal called The Movement and Explorer Journal for children to collect and use throughout the holidays.

Adding to the town-centre offer, Wellingborough Town Council is bringing back The Beach 2026 on Orient Way for the whole of August. The free seaside-themed attraction opens daily from 10am to 4pm, giving families another no-cost option during the break.
