Two pairs of trainers and a games console were stolen from the YMCA charity shop on Haverhill High Street after thieves forced entry through the rear of the building. Suffolk Police are appealing for witnesses to the break-in, which happened around 1.30am on Monday, 29 June.
Officers have confirmed that other items inside the shop were also damaged during the burglary. The force is currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and urging residents on the Suffolk-Essex border to come forward with any dashcam recordings or other information that could assist the investigation. Anyone with information should quote reference 37/37387/26 when contacting police via the 101 number or online portal, or can report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
The YMCA shop has been a fixture on the High Street, with proceeds funding youth and community projects locally. Haverhill’s neighbourhood policing team has previously stepped up foot patrols and met with parish councils in response to concerns about shop burglaries and anti-social behaviour in the town.
