Peterborough’s Central Park Paddling Pool swings open its gates for the summer from Tuesday, offering a free cool-down for families during the school holidays. Peterborough City Council confirmed the popular attraction will run daily except Mondays until 30 August, from 10am to 6pm.
Councillor Zameer Ali, Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Safety, said council teams had worked hard to prepare the site. “We know how popular these attractions are for families across the city, so it’s fantastic news that they are opening in time for the school summer holidays and whilst we are enjoying sunny weather,” he added. A second free water play area, Bretton Water Park in Barnstock, opens on Saturday 18 July, operating daily except Mondays from 10am to 4pm until 30 August.
Entry to both sites is free. Central Park also includes play areas, a sandpit, and sports facilities, while Bretton Water Park sits among grass play areas, football pitches, and playgrounds. The council is already examining whether to bring forward opening dates next year as summers grow hotter. “We fully appreciate that our summers are becoming hotter and with that in mind we are looking at opening the splash parks earlier next year, where possible,” said Councillor Ali.
