Bin collection crews in Rayleigh will start their rounds an hour early this week as Rochford District Council adjusts schedules to cope with adverse weather. Households must have their wheeled bins and food caddies at the boundary by 6am from Tuesday 8 July until Friday 10 July, rather than the usual 7am.

The council said the decision was driven by the conditions expected in the area. “Due to the adverse weather conditions expected this week, our crews will be starting at 6am rather than the normal 7am,” a statement read. “Our crews are working extremely hard to continue to empty your bins.” Normal collection times will resume on Monday 13 July.

The early starts apply to all scheduled collections during this three-day window. The council thanked residents for their understanding during the temporary change. Missed bin reports must be submitted within two working days if a bin was genuinely missed and not contaminated, with no side waste left out.
