Part of Clarence Road in Fleet will close for up to two days from 20 July 2026 while engineers survey the sewers beneath the street. Hampshire County Council confirmed the closure will affect the section between Church Road and Argyll Court, with work hours set between 08:00 and 18:00.

The council granted the order to contractor McAllister, which needs clear access to inspect underground wastewater infrastructure. A signed diversion will send drivers along the B3010, Connaght Road and Church Road to skirt the closed stretch. McAllister will also maintain access to properties within the works zone and will notify anyone directly affected while the work is being carried out.

The notice, published on 6 July, runs under a standard six-month order, though crews expect to wrap up the survey within two working days. Hampshire County Council regularly issues similar closures across the county to keep utility and drainage networks in good working order, often using powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Residents who normally use Clarence Road for commuting or local journeys are advised to allow extra time and to check the signed diversion route well before Monday, 20 July.
