Macclesfield College has seen a 13 percent jump in student registrations compared to last year, after hundreds of future students attended its annual Student Welcome Day on 6 July. The college said the day gave school leavers a chance to meet teachers, explore the campus and take part in course activities ahead of starting in September.

Stephanie Allan, the college’s marketing and communications manager, described a lively atmosphere with inflatables on the front field and activities across campus. Enrolment will open at 10.00am on Thursday 20 August, and applications remain open across a range of A Levels, T-Levels, apprenticeships and university-level courses.

The welcome day capped a series of spring and summer engagement events, including a final open event on 13 June that also reported applications running ahead of the same point last year. The college was confirmed as the top provider in Cheshire and Warrington for 16–19 education and training in the Department for Education’s National Achievement Rate Tables in March 2026, and a recent Ofsted inspection praised its student achievement, inclusion and employer engagement.

The year-on-year registration rise means Macclesfield College is preparing to welcome a larger cohort when enrolment coincides with GCSE results day in August. Helen Fazackerley, director of corporate services, said in June that the college had received more applications than at the same point last year.
