Essex Police have launched an appeal after a 17-year-old boy was injured in a hit-and-run collision on Link Road in Canvey Island, Essex. The incident happened at about 6.50pm on Friday 9 January 2025, when a grey or silver van struck the teenager as he was crossing Link Road with his bicycle.
The driver did not stop and one of the van’s damaged wing mirrors was left at the scene, near the junction with Steli Avenue; investigators say it appears to have been sheared off in the collision.
Officers have asked residents and motorists to check doorbell cameras, CCTV and dashcams for any footage of the van around the time of the crash. Police are also keen to hear from any drivers who were in the area and may have captured the incident.
The teenager was taken to hospital for further treatment. Anyone with information is asked to contact Essex Police quoting incident number 871 of Friday 9 January.
