Surrey Police are asking people in Walton-On-Thames, Surrey, for help with an investigation after a man died in a car crash on Sunday night.

A man in his 40s died after his silver hatchback hit a tree on Sutton Green Road at roughly 8:45 pm on January 25, 2026. Investigators believe many drivers from Walton-On-Thames may have been using this route to avoid traffic on the A3 and could have captured the car on their dashcams.

According to Surrey Police, any footage from mobile phones, car cameras, or home security systems could be vital to understanding how the crash happened. Detective Sergeant Chris Schultze said that even a small piece of video could help the team investigating the case.

Drivers may notice police returning to the area near Blanchard’s Hill this week to carry out more checks on the road. This route is often used by local commuters heading toward Guildford, and some short travel delays are expected while this work continues.
