Merseyside Police are asking for help to find the rightful owners of a large quantity of suspected stolen jewellery recovered in Kirkby, Merseyside. Officers discovered the items — including rings, watches and bracelets — during a proactive stop-and-search on Broad Lane in the Southdene area in mid-January 2026.

A 20-year-old man from the local area was arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal after he could not account for the items. He has since been released under investigation, Merseyside Police say.

Detective Inspector James Rotheram said the jewellery may have significant sentimental value to its owners as well as financial value, and that many victims of burglary suffer long-lasting impacts. Returning these items and identifying their owners is a priority for Knowsley CID, the force added.

The recovery was made as part of Merseyside Police’s “Winter of Action” initiative, which ran from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026 and has involved increased patrols in Kirkby. Police say identifying owners may help secure the evidence needed to proceed with a prosecution.

Anyone who believes the jewellery belongs to them or has information about the items is asked to contact Merseyside Police. Owners will be asked to provide proof of ownership or a detailed description of the items that has not been made public.
