Macclesfield Town Council is bringing back its “Do Something Summer” programme to help families in Macclesfield, Cheshire, with free activities and transport during the 2026 school holidays. The programme will provide free activities in the town centre every Wednesday from 22 July to 26 August 2026.

According to Macclesfield Town Council and the event listing on Visit Macclesfield, the events are scheduled to run from 11:00am to 3:00pm in the Market Place. Planned activities include climbing walls, circus skills workshops and live entertainment; the council says the weekly line‑up will be confirmed closer to the summer.

To help families get to the events, the council is continuing its council‑funded “Free Bus Wednesdays” scheme. Residents travelling within the Macclesfield town boundary will be able to use D&G Buses and High Peak Buses services at no cost on event days. Families coming from outside the town boundary may still face fares unless covered by Cheshire East schemes — readers should check Cheshire East Council transport guidance for full details.

The project is designed to give families low‑cost options for school‑holiday activities and to support town‑centre businesses. A listing for Do Something Summer is available on Visit Macclesfield and the Macclesfield Town Council website and will be updated with the full weekly programme closer to the events.
