Residents in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, are seeing changes to their local bus service as the Red 44A route is diverted for ten weeks to allow for essential road improvements. Nottingham City Transport began the diversion on 5 January 2026 to accommodate works on Private Road No.1 in Netherfield.

The project, which is part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s 2025/26 Highway Capital Maintenance Programme, has resulted in the closure of several stops. People who usually catch the bus at Elm Drive or Netherfield, Victoria Rd Shops will need to use alternative locations until the work is expected to finish on 13 March 2026.

During this time, buses are being rerouted along the A612 Colwick Loop Road. Local residents have raised concerns about the longer walks to reach these temporary stops, particularly during the colder winter months.

The Red 44A is a major link for people travelling between residential streets in Carlton and the shops and businesses at the Colwick Industrial Estate. To help passengers plan their journeys, Nottingham City Transport is encouraging people to check the latest route updates and times via its mobile app and service updates page.
