Local youth charity Just Drop-In has opened registration for the 2026 Macclesfield Bikeathon to raise money for youth mental health and homelessness services in Macclesfield and the surrounding Cheshire East area. The fundraising event will take place on Saturday, 16 May 2026, starting and finishing at Macclesfield Market Place (Town Hall).

Organisers are aiming to recruit hundreds of participants to join one of three route options designed for all skill levels. Cyclists can choose between a 5-mile family loop for children and casual riders, a 30-mile ride across the mostly flat Cheshire Plain, or a 60-mile challenge for more experienced cyclists.

Money raised from the event will fund free counselling and drop-in support sessions for young people aged 12 to 25 who are struggling with social isolation, financial hardship, or housing instability. The charity provides a vital lifeline for young people who do not meet the threshold for clinical NHS mental health services but need early help.

Residents can sign up for the ride through the official SiEntries event page. After paying an entry fee, riders are encouraged to set up personal fundraising pages to support the charity, which has served the local community for more than 25 years.
