The Lancaster Music Festival will return to Lancaster, Lancashire, from October 8 to October 11, 2026. Organisers confirmed the dates on January 30, 2026, announcing that the event will feature more than 500 performances across 50+ venues after taking a break in 2025.

Most of the shows will be free for the public to attend, featuring more than 300 artists ranging from local musicians to international acts. The festival took a planned year off in 2025 to give volunteers a rest and to reorganise funding and its organisational structure.

Local businesses are expecting a major boost, as the festival typically attracts an estimated 50,000 visitors into the city centre. According to festival reporting and local press coverage, recent editions of the festival have helped generate roughly £2.3 million for the local economy by filling hotels, shops and restaurants.

Performances will take place at major landmarks like The Priory and Lancaster Castle, as well as in more than 30 local pubs and cafes. Local reporting, including Beyond Radio, notes organisers hope the return will help boost the city’s nightlife and celebrate local culture.

Organisers say the early announcement helps local businesses plan for the surge in customers and gives performers plenty of time to get involved. The four-day event has grown from a small series of pub gigs in 2009 into a city-wide celebration that includes street theatre and workshops.
