Lancaster & Morecambe College (LMC) in Lancashire has launched a new suite of Technology and Artificial Intelligence courses in January 2026 to help residents train for local technical roles. The new offer — covering topics such as machine learning, data analytics and technical automation at higher technical levels — follows the college’s recent accreditation as a SIAS Approved Centre, enabling it to deliver industry‑recognised, regulated innovation and technical qualifications.
The courses form part of a wider effort to respond to skills shortages identified in the Lancashire Growth Plan (2025–2035) and to align further education with regional employer demand. LMC says the provision is aligned with Local Skills Improvement Plan guidance that encourages colleges to work with employers to support the area’s transition to a more digital economy.
Danny Braithwaite, Principal and CEO of Lancaster & Morecambe College, said: “We can help employers navigate the education landscape to help them deliver the output they require. Our goal is to ensure that the skills taught in our classrooms today are the ones used in Lancashire’s industries tomorrow.” The college’s development work has been employer‑led; the Research Dossier cites regional stakeholders including energy operators and port employers as helping to shape the curriculum.
This expansion follows the county’s MEGA Hub/AI enrichment work in 2024–25, which introduced an AI and technology programme to thousands of school pupils across Lancashire. The new adult and higher‑level courses build on that earlier work and reflect national guidance encouraging colleges to offer digital and employer‑focused training.
Enrollment for the new courses opened in January 2026. Adults interested in the programmes can find more information on the college website or visit the campus at Morecambe Road, Lancaster (LA1 2TY) to explore the levels of training available.
