Lakeside Arts at the University of Nottingham has opened a major new exhibition featuring the work of American pop artist Andy Warhol. The show, called Andy Warhol: Pop Icon, opened on 24 January 2026 and runs until 19 April 2026, giving audiences the chance to see important Warhol works without travelling to national galleries in London or Edinburgh.
The display in Lakeside Arts’ Djanogly Gallery includes rare early drawings, celebrity photographs and well‑known screenprints of figures such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. The works come from the ARTIST ROOMS collection — a national touring programme owned and managed by Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland — which is intended to bring major 20th‑century art to regional venues across the UK.
The BBC reported that the exhibition highlights Warhol’s long‑standing engagement with celebrity and consumer culture; Ashley Gallant, head of visual arts at Lakeside Arts, described Warhol’s work as “iconic”. The ARTIST ROOMS programme itself was created after a donation of works by collector Anthony d’Offay to Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland to ensure these works could be shown outside London.
Lakeside Arts’ website says the Djanogly Gallery is open Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–4pm, and Sunday, 12noon–4pm, for the exhibition. Tickets are priced at £6, with concessions and some free admission categories available, and the gallery is easily reached by the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram at the University of Nottingham stop.
