Leamington Football Club is letting fans pay whatever they want for an upcoming rearranged home game in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, as an apology for a power cut that stopped their recent match. The offer follows the abandonment of their fixture against Buxton on January 20, 2026, when the stadium’s floodlights failed and the match was called off at half-time after a prolonged delay.

Club chairman Jim Scott said the move is a gesture of goodwill to supporters who faced frustration and inconvenience when the lights went out. According to the club’s official statement, supporters will also be given free car parking for the rescheduled match at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.

The original game was stopped after four of the stadium’s main floodlight pylons lost power, leaving the pitch in darkness. The Leamington Observer reported that officials waited for more than an hour to see if the lights would come back on before the referee abandoned the fixture.

Match records from Flashscore show that Leamington were trailing 1-0 at the time the lights failed; the Observer reported that Buxton’s Johnny Johnston had scored in first-half injury time. The club is currently trying to improve its position at the bottom of the National League North under interim manager Chris Knott.

The leadership change followed the recent resignation of long-serving manager Paul Holleran. Fans will be able to choose their own entry price at the turnstiles when the new date for the Buxton fixture is confirmed.
