Surrey Police are appealing for help from the public after a serious crash in Camberley left a young cyclist in hospital on February 3, 2026. A man in his early 20s remains in hospital with serious injuries following a collision on Portsmouth Road.

Officers from Surrey Police arrested a 29-year-old man from the local area. He was taken into custody on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs.

Surrey Police (Surrey Heath Beat) have asked anyone who saw the collision or who has dashcam, helmet-cam or doorbell footage from the area at the time to come forward. Investigators are focusing on the stretch of Portsmouth Road near the junction with the A30 and the surrounding residential streets.

The collision highlights ongoing safety concerns on Portsmouth Road, where residents have previously campaigned for lower speed limits. The crash also underscores the objectives of the Surrey RoadSafe Vision Zero Road Safety Strategy 2024–2035, which aims to reduce fatal and serious road casualties by 50% by 2035.

Anyone with information or relevant footage is asked to contact Surrey Police immediately. Local agencies say the investigation will inform ongoing efforts to make community roads safer for all users.
